What Is Microdermabrasion?
Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive method of skin rejuvenation for the face. The treatment involves the use of an abrasive instrument to exfoliate the skin. The machine removes the older skin cells and reveals a fresher-looking appearance. Two types of microdermabrasion methods are used: one which uses a handheld tool and the other which uses a wand with a diamond tip. The treatment thickens the collagen in the skin, which also contributes to a more youthful complexion.
What Types of Skin Conditions Can Be Treated with Microdermabrasion?
Skin conditions that can benefit from microdermabrasion treatments include hyperpigmentation, blackheads, acne, fine lines, wrinkling and enlarged pores. The therapy is used to reduce the appearance of stretch marks too.
What Is Involved in the Process?
If a hand-held device is used, then the tool disperses small, exfoliating crystals on the skin while a vacuum attached to the device suctions up the crystal residue with the dead skin. Microdermabrasion using a diamond-tip wand uses a light sanding action to exfoliate the epidermis or skin’s top layer and generate regrowth. During the process, you will experience a mild scratching sensation and a slight feeling of vibration from the machine.
How Long Does a Procedure Last?
Usually, microdermabrasion treatments last no longer than 30 minutes. Therefore, you can conveniently schedule the appointment during your lunch hour or after work in the Phoenix and Scottsdale area.
What Is Involved in After-Treatment Care?
After the treatment process, a special facial moisturizer will be recommended to soften the skin and promote healing.
Is There Any Downtime?
