What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

Phoenix & Scottsdale patients who are interested in lifting or improving their buttocks understandably want to know exactly what a butt augmentation is. A Brazilian butt lift, also referred to as gluteal augmentation or butt augmentation, is an enhancement surgery that is designed to improve the look and shape of the buttocks.

How Will My Brazilian Butt Lift Be Performed?

A process known as fat transfer is used to perform Brazilian butt lift. Phoenix & Scottsdale patients will need to have sufficient fat in their bodies to use in the procedure. Dr. Meger will first determine the areas where he can obtain fat cells before implementing treatment. Typically, he’ll take the fat from such areas as the hips, abdomen, and possibly the thighs or back. Dr. Meger then uses liposuction to suction out the fat from those areas. The fat cells are then separated from the other materials removed during the liposuction and injected into the buttocks.  This is performed with a brand new, state of the art machine which filters out the fat cells more efficiently than the previous methods, resulting in decreased surgical time and a better “take” of the fat cells. Dr. Meger uses the fat to sculpt, lift, and tone your buttocks to your desired shape.

How to Prepare for a Brazilian Butt Lift

Before you go in for your Brazilian butt lift, Phoenix & Scottsdale patients should follow their preoperative plan and instructions. Including:

  • If you smoke, you should quit at least two weeks before your operation date. This will help you heal faster.
  • Don’t take Aspirin. Make sure you notify Dr. Meger of any medications or herbal pills and vitamins that you’re taking as well because some may increase bleeding.
  • Drink lots of water before and after your surgery. Your body needs it!

Procedure for Brazilian Butt Lift

Phoenix & Scottsdale patients should expect their procedure to last anywhere from three to five hours, depending on how many liposuction areas are desired. It will likely be performed in an outpatient surgery center. The first step of the procedure is for the anesthesiologist to administer a light anesthesia. From there, Dr. Meger uses the details of the patient’s consultation and surgical plan to guide him in shaping your buttocks to your exact goals and desires. Immediately after the surgery is complete, patients will be taken to a recovery room for monitoring. Delete that whole thing about the recovery room

Recovering from a Brazilian Butt Lift

Dr. Meger will discuss your recovery plan in great detail with you before the procedure. In general, patients won’t get to see the full results of their procedure for several months.

  • Compression garments are also often worn to reduce swelling and maintain the shape and contour of the buttocks.
  • Patients may experience pain in the first couple of days after surgery. Dr. Meger will prescribe some pain medications.
  • To aid in healing, patients are asked to avoid sitting for up to six weeks.

Depending on the extent of the surgery, the downtime may last anywhere from several days to a couple of weeks. After six weeks, patients are able to resume normal activities.
