Smart Lipo Recovery Time
Smartlipo is performed on an outpatient basis. This allows the patient to recover in the comfort of their own home. We perform Smartlipo under a local IV sedation technique that allows patients to have a rapid recovery with minimal downtime. Most patients can resume physical activity 2-3 weeks post Smartlipo. A specific garment has to be worn for one full week and part-time for another week.
Smartlipo vs Traditional Liposuction
There are two main types of liposuction, Smart and Traditional. Not all patients are candidates for Smartlipo. Recovery time is approximately two weeks for Smartlipo, as opposed to six weeks for Traditional. The type of lipo best for you can be determined during a complimentary consultation with Dr. Meger.
Smartlipo allows for smaller incisions and a narrower cannula, (long hollow tube) used to remove excess fat. Traditional Liposuction is recommended if the patient has larger areas of fat to eliminate.

Smartlipo permanently destroys fat cells, while it improves overall body shape and contour. Skin tightening is an added benefit of Smartlipo, due to the laser assisted technique. Smartlipo can perfect those areas of the body that don’t seem to respond to diet and exercise.
